One of Spence's best pieces was his version of this popular American World War II song.
I left out Spence's vocalisations but on the original you can hear him growl to the melody : 'there is one motor gone, but we'll still carry on. Coming in on a wing and a prayer'
If you like Joseph Spence's exuberant music check out my other vid on him
There's info about an excellent dvd about Spence at the Stefan Grossman site
Spence's first recordings are a must-have for every fingerstyle guitar fan; they're still available at Smithsonian/Folkways (CD SF 40066)
I'm playing my copy of a 1934 Gibson L-00 made by John Gréven.
Drop D tuning
Couldn't resist trowing in some Lonnie Johnson licks ;)
